One of the most remote settlements on Earth, Ittoqqortoormitt was formed in East Greenlandby the kingdom of Denmark at the head of Scoresbysund, the longest fjord in the world, in 1925 in an effort to pull smaller communities along the south eastern coast into one. From the sea the village is only accessible around 3 months of the year, with the other 9 months prohibiting sea travel due to arctic sea ice. Colourful houses speckle the small jutted outcrop and the village is mostly populated by hunters who carry generations of tradition, wisdom, and stories of this largely untouched area of the world.
